First Aid Trainer Training
Dear Fellow Scouter,
I have received the following information from Hertfordshire Scouts. If you or anyone you know (they don’t have to be in Scouting) are interested in becoming a Hemel Hempstead District First Response Trainer please contact Simone and copy me in. If you are aware of someone outside of Scouting who may be interested, please contact me directly.
We have been working hard to identify individuals who have an interest in training first response across Hertfordshire. Our aim is to recruit several trainers per district, who can train local courses, supported by the County First Aid team. The County will support with administration and certificates as well supply as the kit needed to train courses if required.
With an expanded training team based in the Districts, there should be more local options for our members.
To become a First Response trainer, you require an in date 16-hour training course or equivalent and module 29: Presenting (or alternative professional teaching/training qualification). The next opportunity to gain a 16-hour course qualification is on February 1st and 2nd at Phasels wood. This course will be free of charge for anyone volunteering to become a First Response trainer, and they will also receive a first aid at work certificate that is recognised externally. We plan to run several of these during 2025 and beyond to support volunteers to gain, and in time renew, maintain those qualifications.
For those who already have a 16-hour course, and an interest in supporting First Response training, they will be supported to complete module 29 over the next few months.
If you have volunteers interested in becoming a First Response trainer who need the 16hr course and/or presenting training, or any other technical questions about becoming a First Response trainer, please contact Simone Roberts direct at: simone.roberts@hertfordshirescouts.org.uk.
Yours in Scouting
